The Living Legacy of Martha Graham: 'Dark Meadow' Sarabande

During its 2014-15 season, Juilliard Dance presented Martha Graham's Dark Meadow in a staging by faculty member Terese Capucilli. Premiered in 1946, it was the first of Graham's ballets in which men and women danced together in the chorus. The intricately choreographed Sarabande, shown here, is considered one of the most beautiful passages Graham ever created. Aaron Sherber, music director for the Graham Company and the conductor for Juilliard's performance, offers insights on the music and Graham's collaborative process with composers.
