About Juilliard Open Classroom
Juilliard Open Classroom is a suite of online courses developed in partnership with edX, a global leader in online learning. The courses are designed by Juilliard faculty and experts to help musicians and music lovers connect more deeply with the performing arts, from beginners to connoisseurs. This initiative brings the conservatory’s respected instruction into everyday life on a flexible schedule, so anyone can invest in themselves and hone new skills.
Spring 2017 course topic areas include Sharpen Your Piano Artistry, Music Theory 101, How to Listen to Great Music for Orchestra, and Conquering Performance Anxiety.
In addition to online courses, Juilliard is the creator of the Juilliard Open Studios app, which gives exclusive access to the inner workings of how The Juilliard School fosters the artistry of the next generation of acclaimed performers. App episodes feature some of the biggest names in the performing arts, including jazz legend Wynton Marsalis, concert pianist Emanuel Ax, and actor Adam Driver—all Juilliard alumni—who give viewers the inside story behind timeless works of art, as Juilliard students, faculty, and alumni bring them to life.
